Botox is a major research breakthrough in the struggle to fight the natural aging process, it is safe, effective, non-invasive, long lasting, yet not irreversible.

Botox® is routinely used to diminish wrinkles in the following areas:

• Vertical "frown" lines between the eyebrows and the bridge of the nose.
• Squint lines or crows' feet at the corners of the eyes.
• The horizontal forehead lines.
• "Pucker" lines surrounding lips.

With a few tiny injections-and within days there's a noticeable improvement in the areas treated, which can last up to 4 months. 

BOTOX® Cosmetic relaxes the targeted muscles in the face that create eye and forehead creasing. Because these targeted muscles do not contract, the skin stays smooth and undisturbed, creating a younger-looking, more relaxed face.

Botox® is the only treatment of its type approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Complications are rare. However, some risks include temporary swelling or bruising at the injection sites, If the solution migrates to surrounding musculature, lid ptosis (drooping of the upper eyelid muscle) may occur.  Eyedrops are used to treat this and it is only temporary.  As with any procedure that enters tissue, infection is a possibility.  Also, temporary headache in the forehead area at injections sites may occur.

Chemical Peeling is the application of a chemical exfoliant to cause an abrasion in the outer (epidermis) and inner (dermis) skin layers in order to remove superficial lesions and improve texture of the skin.  Peels are classified based on depth of the penetration in the skin as superficial, medium dept and deep depth.

Superficial peels are an excellent choice for those who desire

Medium Depth Peels cause an injury extending through the epidermis and upper reticular dermis. Medium depth peels are resorted to if a more pronounced enhancement of skin condition arising from acne, actinic keratosis, scars, mild to moderate facial wrinkling and in some cases, in melasma, is desired.  Benefits which can be derived from medium depth peels include the following:

• Improvement of the color, freshness and texture of the face.
• Improvement of the skin tone.
• Reduction of the visibility of fine wrinkles and superficial discoloration, such as age spots
• Possibility of improving blotches.
• Sometimes improves dark circles under the eyes.

Deep peels cause and injury extending through the epidermis and to the mid reticular dermis, the risks of deep peels are higher, require stronger pain management, and require more downtime with detailed follow up care Therefore we do not provide this service. Results of previous cases reveal that the use of medium depth peels in people with olive and light brown skin present a higher risk of discoloration.

The natural process of aging, which generally starts during the mid 20’s is brought about by the slowing down of the production of collagen and elastin, two components of the human skin which enables it to practically spring back into place whenever muscular movement takes place.

A revolutionary cosmetic procedure has been developed that adds volume to the face to somehow reverse the effects of the aging process. The method is carried out using substances called dermal fillers, which are injected just below the skin to fill in facial lines, wrinkles and scars. The fillers serve to supply an appearance of fullness which either completely hides or diminishes the wrinkles and other lines and gives an individual a more youthful appearance.

The usual areas improved with the application of dermal fillers are:

• The smile lines around the nose and mouth.
• Fine lines above the mouth,
• Frown lines between the eyes and acne scars.
• Fillers are also used for lip enhancement for fuller lips.

The procedure takes less than an hour and simply consists of the application of some local anesthetic cream followed by a series of light injections. In some cases injectable anesthetic can be used.

Restylane™ is a transparent hyaluronic acid gel injected into facial tissue for smoothing wrinkles and folds, particularly the nasolabial folds found around the nose and mouth. Common side effects of Restylane are bruising, redness, swelling, pain, tenderness, and itching. The filler must not be administered to patients with severe allergies marked by a history of anaphylaxis or hypersensitivity to the ingestion or injection of a drug or protein, or to gram-positive bacterial proteins and to those with multiple severe allergies. 

Juvéderm^™Ultra and Juvéderm^™ Ultra Plus are also injectable gels administered into the mid to deep dermis for correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and nasolabial folds. Its known side effects were generally mild to moderate, lasting for a span of seven days or even less, and consists of temporary injection site reactions like redness, pain, firmness, swelling and bumps. It is administered just like other dermal fillers but its effects last up to one year.
 

    Telangiectasias- "Spider Veins"

Spider Veins are traced to many factors heredity, pregnancy, weight gain, or even prolonged sitting or standing. Spider veins are different from varicose veins, which are larger and protrude past the skin surface.

The latest technology in the treatment of spider veins is sclerotherapy whereby a sclerosing agent like hypertonic saline is administered through tiny injections to the small veins resulting in their collapse and fading away.

One treatment session consists from five to forty injections. Often more than one treatment session is required.  Appointment treatment sessions can be scheduled in either 30 min or 1 hour sessions based on not only the amount of spider veins requiring treatment but also the clients tolerance to the procedure.

Prospective sclerotherapy patients should be happy about the fact that health threatening complications arising out of the treatment are very rare. However there are some risks associated with sclerotherapy including:

• The formation of blood clots in the veins.
• Severe inflammation.
• Adverse allergic reactions to the sclerosing solution.
• Skin injury which may leave a small but permanent scar.
• Irregular pigmentation
• Telangiectatic matting, where fine reddish blood vessels appear in the vicinity of the treated area, that will simply require further injections.
